Full Moon Gayatri Mantra Meditation – 108 Repetitions

The Gayatri Mantra is considered one of the oldest and most important Vedic mantras.

The Vedas say the Gayatri mantra purifies both the one who chants and the one who listens. It is said that this sacred prayer spirals through the entire universe from the heart of the chanter, appealing for peace and divine wisdom for all.
The session will take approximately 1 hour.

There is no charge for this session. Any donations offered will go to The Heart of Living Yoga Foundation.

I have a recording of 27 repetitions of the mantra if you wish to learn it or practice. Just message me with your email address.

Online Yoga Study Group

Looking for a relaxed, informal exploration of yoga philosophy/psychology?

This monthly group is for those interested in exploring the philosophy and psychology of Yoga and how it applies to our everyday lives.

The practice of yoga goes way beyond the practice of yoga asanas.

Those who are curious about what yoga is really about and are interested in exploring the philosophy and psychology of yoga may be interested in attending this ongoing monthly online study group I am facilitating.

Groups can be a support to spiritual growth.
The richness of these types of group discussions cannot be underestimated –they tolerate differing lifestyles and temperaments and open us up to new perspectives.

Initially we will be exploring the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Sutras are in essence a practical guide to our spiritual journey and discuss the aims and practice of yoga.

For the past 8 years I have been drawn to working mainly with one translation and commentary; The Secret Power of Yoga by Nischala Joy Devi.
I have found it very accessible and the commentary relevant to 21st Century living. This text will form the basis of our group discussions. It would be helpful for you to have a copy of the text but it’s not essential.

Each session will be simple and informal beginning with an invocation, breath practice and short meditation to gather and centre us.

A few sutras will be read together along with commentary. You then have the opportunity to explore these and the relevance to your daily lives in informal small group discussions.

We then gather together to share and finish with a heart meditation.

Cost: £10

Connect with Sacred Sound

Join Maggie and Ingrid for a special evening of bhakti yoga at the Garden Studio in Falkland.

Sound is an integral part of living and can be healing for body, mind, and spirit. Connect with the divine in you and everything through the sacred sounds of mantra and kirtan. It is going to be special!

Bhakti means love, devotion, or worship and bhakti yoga can be translated as ‘the path of the heart’ or ‘path of loving devotion’. It is one of four classical paths of yoga, the others being Jnana yoga, Karma yoga, and Raja yoga. All of these lead to enlightenment or spiritual liberation and self-realization.

Maggie and Ingrid will lead you through several mantras and kirtan this evening, ending with a beautiful meditation. The mantra and meditation session is 75 minutes long followed by a cuppa and a chat.

Please bring water, something comfortable to sit on, and wear comfortable clothing. Feel free to bring an instrument so you can join in with the rhythm and a blanket to stay warm. We have a limited amount of chairs available, if you would like one please let us know.

It is £10 for the evening and there are 12 spaces available. If you prefer to pay through bank transfer (saves processing costs), please contact Ingrid or Maggie through social media. We know that these times can be tough financially. If you would love to join us but are facing financial challenges, please contact us. We aim to be as flexible as possible.

We are looking forward to sharing mantra and kirtan with you!

Yoga & Conscious Ageing –a Day Retreat

In our youth obsessed culture there’s a lot of fear and anxiety about ageing, and indeed it is challenging. However, it is also a time of great opportunity for spiritual, emotional and psychological growth. There is a wealth of evidence demonstrating that the practice of yoga can increase our healthspan and much that the ancient psychology and philosophy of yoga has to offer us on this wisdom path.

In this workshop we will explore:

  • What is Conscious Ageing and how can yoga support healthy ageing of body, mind & spirit.
  • Ageing as an opening to our inner spiritual nature.
  • Recovering a sense of purpose and meaning as we age.
  • Contemplating why the role of elder has almost been lost.
In India our lifespan is considered to have 4 stages, or 4 Ashramas
These can act as a framework to living our life meaningfully
(Birth to 24) Bramacharya – Student stage
(approx. 25-50) Grihastha – Stage of the householder/marriage, being occupied with family
(approx. 50-74) Vānaprastha – which translates as forrest dweller/forest walker. Retirement; this stage starts when a person hands over household responsibilities to the next generation, takes an advisory role, and devote more of her/his time in activities like spiritual study, and being of service to others.
This stage typically follows Grihastha the householder.
The Vanaprastha stage is considered a transition phase from a householder’s to one with greater emphasis on spiritual pursuits.
(approx 75+) Sannyasa – historically a stage of renunciation,a heart centred, peaceful and simple life, and spiritual pursuit. The word Sannyasa translates as “to put down everything, all of it”
I have given only a very brief description here, so if you would like to read more on the 4 Ashramas checkout this link:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%80%C5%9Brama_(stage)
This Yoga & Conscious Ageing Day Retreat will focus on the Vanaprastha stage 50-74 approx. If you identify with the stage of Vanaprastha in your life, this event is for you regardless of age!
Suitable for all levels of fitness.
